UV reactive properties:
Some specimens of selenite (a form of gypsum) naturally fluoresce under ultraviolet light, glowing in beautiful shades of orange to yellow. This effect is caused by mineral impurities or inclusions within the stone that react to UV light, sometimes revealing unique internal patterns such as “hourglass” shapes that aren’t visible under normal lighting.
 
For the best fluorescence, a 365nm UV light is recommended, as it produces a stronger, more vibrant glow and highlights the hidden details within the stone more clearly.
